Amazon delays launch of order notification software

Amazon postponed the introduction of its order notification software which had been scheduled for release on January 15.

Now the software is scheduled for release sometime before February.

Amazon has said it will delete customer e-mail and shipping addresses from its "Sold, ship now" e-mails by February 1.

Amazing. Now we can use ESP to figure out where to ship our books.

Who is running Amazon these days? Sounds like Larry, curley and Moe.

I think they'd do a much better job, actually. Perhaps a group of monkeys? :)

While I think this change is somewhat idiotic, I do all of my packing slips by hand and end up having to look at each order online to get the ISBN, Order Item ID and other info that's not included in the emails. I guess it will just require a little more cutting and pasting..

Just discovered your blog, and I'll be back frequently!
Although I'm a UK amazon seller I, along with many other UK sellers, await with horror this change when they ship it over here in due course.

I'd just like to add that many people, having looked at the .com seller soapbox seem to have got the wrong idea about this change to stripping info out of emails.

Hopefully this new tool amazon is working on will work well to produce email details, ability to produce packing slips and notify buyer of order confirmation, dispatch & follow up. Hopefuly with some customisation to be able to personalise details.
