NYT: A Writer Finds the Rare Lives of Two Rare-Book Dealers Worth Singing About
Here's something well worth reading from the New York Times.“Bookends” tells the true story of Madeleine B. Stern and Leona Rostenberg, rare-book dealers in New York who for more than half a century were institutions among the bibliophiles of the city and beyond.

I'm glad to see your notice about this book and subjects. These old dames reflected the old book world that I miss, and every book lover and seller should miss.
This book, and others, should be a required read for booksellers, (especially Amazon and Ebay) but alas, so many would be just as happy selling shoes or baseball gloves, just a commodity.

How fascinating that the lives of two
longtime bibliophiles would be turned into a musical! I hope it inspires more people to read, just as movies based on books may cause a rise in numbers of people buying and reading the book.

Email me. I can't find my review of your book and I want to include it on my Blog page. Thanks!
Bravo!
I stumbled across this book when I first started selling books fulltime, and I couldn't put it down. The scholarship of the ladies is just amazing, and the whole story inspired me to learn more and more about my trade. Also, I became focused on rare and out-of-print books for my business, instead of other types of inventory.
NY is too far for me to travel to see a show...but I'm thinking about it...
Have you read Used and Rare by Nancy and Larry Goldstone(and its sequel)?
It makes me mourn the old way of book buying, although I never knew that world for selling (except for a few prosperous weeks in my brick and mortar). And, I am certain that those that galloped through the snow on horses felt nostalgic when the auto arrived in pretty much the same way (I feel this way about trains).
The Goldstones traverse all the varied ways of appreciating used (and later very very rare) books. It's a delightful read, and they are so intimate in it, you feel as if you are there!
