Amazon offers same-day delivery to Prime customers

Here's a new wrinkle Amazon is introducing today for its Prime shipping program today, and I'm going to love it as a buyer but hate it as a seller, since it makes my listings less competitive than ever compared to Amazon's merchandise.

I buy lots of books, so I'm already a heavy user of Amazon Prime, which offers free two-day shipping and discounted overnight delivery for $80 a year. Now Amazon is launching same-day delivery to Prime customers for $5.99. Apparently they're rolling it out now in the Northeast, and only certain items in the catalog are available. Here's the e-mail I just received (click to enlarge):

"Local Express Delivery" is what they're calling it. They started it in Seattle in August.

I just started back up in March selling books at Amazon. eBay is out for me as far as books go. I get about 25%- 50% at eBay for what I get at Amazon.
The other day I picked up a book for $4.00 that is worth $100.00. But Amazon won't let be sell it because it was printed in England and England's Amazon has it for sale. Seems pretty unconstitutional to me.
Anyway, does anybody have a good source for selling books valued over $50.00 that Amazon won't take? This is the third time this has happened to me with valuable books.
And another thing-- For $25.00 I picked up a book from 1945 or so which is an original unproofed copy. I didn't steal it-- I bought it. Amazon and eBay will not let me sell this out of print great railroad book. Does anybody know somewhere I can sell it?

Thanks for your time.

Sam

Hi,
You could sell it on eBay. Or, I as an Alibris customer, they just sent me an email telling me I could become an Alibiris seller for $19.99 per year plus a small commission. In the past I thought they only let official bookstores or professional booksellers sell through their site, but I could be wrong.
